Unexpected Conversation

Wufei was sitting at his desk at the preventers office as he did ever day writing up his report for the day. It was around five o’clock and it was time to leave. He would normally catch a ride from Sally since he lived near her, but today would be different. On his way out with Sally he realized that he forgot his jacket and it was starting to rain.

Wufei: Sally, go on without me today, I need to get my jacket.

Sally: We won’t be in the rain long, you don’t need it.

Wufei: The last time I left it over night, I found it in the garbage .

Sally: OK, Do you want me to wait for you.

Wufei: That’s OK, I will find A way home.

Sally: (sarcastically)OK, if you say so, later.( She almost complete giving up on him)

Wufei headed back to his office quickly so he took the elevator, he worked only on the seventh floor(he like to walk up normally). He hoped to get home before the storm would get worse. He ran into his office, grabbed his jacket and headed back to the elevator and as he did he noticed flashes of lighting. He got in and hit the lobby button. The elevator stopped on the fifth floor and Wufei was shocked to see who got on.

Wufei: Isn’t that Relena Peacecraft, or what ever she calls herself these days.

Relena: Hello(walks in and then faces the door).

Wufei: Hey. This is weird, I have never meet Relena till now, I have only seen her on TV...wait..this can’t be good.

Relena: Thank you for catching me.

Wufei: (waved his left hand) forget it.

Relena: What happened?

Wufei: Idiot ,The power must have gone out...we may be here for awhile.

Relena: How long do you think?

Wufei:...Hard to say...hours maybe. I may have to kill her.

Relena: That’s not good...I have a very important meeting to go to.

Wufei:(sarcastically) It looks like you may just be late.

That was the last thing to be heard for awhile, they sat their quiet for what felt like hours. And if Wufei had it his way it would stay that way.

Relena: Maybe he could help me.You are a preventer...right?

Wufei:(looks down at his uniform)What gave it away?

Relena:(laughed) Sorry...can I ask you a question?

Wufei: What? don’t kill her...don’t kill her...etc.

Relena: Well...is it true...that some of the gundam pilots have become preventers

Wufei: Why do you want to know..do you know one.

Relena: Yes, I have met severe...but there is only one that I am looking for.

Wufei: If there are gundam pilots working here...there is no way to know.

Relean: I see...If I would to show you a picture...could you maybe recognize him.( pulls out a folded up piece of paper and hands it to him)

Wufei: She has a picture of him(looks at it) No...I haven’t seen him here.

Relena:(puts her head down) Thanks anyway.

Wufei looked at her confusedly, he didn’t understand why anybody would go so far to see someone that didn’t want to see them. Just then the light came on and the elevator started to move once again. Relena raised her head and Wufei could see now that she was crying, He didn’t know why he was going to what he was, but that didn’t stop him. The elevator stopped at the lobby and the door opened.

Wufei:( waking at of the elevator, turns around and hands her a paper with a number on it)Here.

Relena: What’s this?

Wufei: Do you know Duo?

Relena:(shocked) Yes..but..how..did..(Wufei interrupted her)

Wufei: You could reach him at the phone number on the card, he maybe able to help you find Heero.

Relena:(still shocked) How did you know that, I don’t understand. Who is he?

Wufei: You only asked if I seen a gundam pilot...you never asked if I was one.

Just then the elevator door closed while Relena was still on it in complete shock. Wufei just walked away and muddier something about never understanding women.
