Final Waltz

Part 2

Well this is it get your Kleenex's ready cause your gonna need it. There is a lot of action and an ending you wont be able to predict. Just as a precaution this story can get graphic at times so watch out. I hope you like this story. Enjoy.

Ch-5

Hangar

The Gundam pilots had just finished making last minute adjustments to their Gundams when Heero called them over

Quatre: What do you want Heero?

Heero: Before we go there's something I want you to know.

Duo: What's that?

Heero: This will be our toughest mission yet. I want you to look out for each other and fight till your last breath. We must succeed no matter what the cost. Because if we fail, everything we know will perish. Do I make myself clear?

All: Yes Sir.

Heero: Then lets go.

All of them put on their helmets, got into the Gundams and closed the hatch.

Outside First Strike

Wu-fei: Were nearing the First Strike

Quatre: Alright everyone prepare for battle.

As the Gundams neared First Strike Virgos appeared all around them

Duo: My god there's so many of them.

Trowa: We can't take on that many.

Heero: We don't have to, all we need to do is punch a hole in their defenses and reach the rear hangar.

Wu-fei: Lets hope we have enough time to get there before the mobile Dolls arrive.

Quatre: Right lets go

The Gundam pilots activated there weapons and charged at the troop of mobile Dolls

Ch-6

Heero aimed his buster rifle and fired into a massive troop of mobile doll, incinerating all of them. Quatre pulled out his swords and began to cut them in half. Duo charged forward and with a mighty swing from his scythe, he took 5 mobile dolls heads off. Trowa pointed his 4 huge chain guns at a group and fired. The bullets ripped through the dolls causing them to explode. Wu-fei lunged forward impaling one while using his arms to destroy a couple of more. Heero abandoned his rifle and switched to his beam saber. He skillfully began to Zigzag back and forth while slicing through Dolls.

Heero: There getting weak on the right side Trowa fire off your missiles and punch a hole.

Trowa: Roger.

Trowa pressed the red button and let his missiles fly. There were many explosions signaling that the missiles found their target.

Trowa: I managed to punch a hole right here.

Heero: Alright lets go before we attract more Dolls

All: Right

The 5 turned on their afterburners and flew towards the rear hangar.

Wu-Fei: There it is.

Heero: Good Trowa blast it open.

Trowa: Roger.

Trowa opened his chest guns and fired at the gate, but the shots deflected off the surface.

Heero: Damn it's shield protected.

Duo: I can shut it down but I need a minute.

Trowa: Oh shit here they come.

Quatre: What do we do?

Wu-Fei looked at a picture on his control panel of him and Sally; he closed his eyes and turned on his booster

Duo: Wu-fei what the hell are you doing.

Heero: Get back here now.

Wu-fei: I'll keep them off your back while Duo shuts down the shield.

Quatre: But you can't take on that many you'll die.

Trowa: He's right, we'll help you out.

Wu-fei: Don't, There's no need for you to die too.

Heero: Wu-fei please don't.

Wu-fei: Sorry my friends but this is goodbye.

Wu-fei turned off his radio and charged towards the Dolls.

Wu-fei: You can't stop me I'll fight till my last breath.

Wu-fei began slicing and impaling one Doll after another even under intense fire. Wu-fei went left, and then did a hard right in an effort to dodge the blast. But still he was taking heavy fire.

Wu-fei: I'm not gonna last much longer but they need more time.

Wu-fei sliced through some more but they just kept coming, and they just kept coming.

Back at the hangar

Duo: Alright Shield deactivated, Trowa blow it open.

Trowa used his chest guns again and this time it blew the doors open.

Heero: Alright everyone get in now.

Trowa: Ok, but where's Wu-fei.

Duo: Guys turn on your monitors now.

The others switched on their monitors and looked on in horror. Wu-fei was fighting with everything he had but there were to many of them. At this rate it would only be a few more minutes, before Wu-fei would be dead.

Duo: We have to do something.

Trowa: What can we do.

Heero: I don't know.

Quatre: we have to do something

Wu-fei: No you don't

Duo: Wu-fei.

Wu-fei: I'm gonna self-detonate that's all I have left.

Quatre: No don't

Wu-fei: Goodbye my friends I was honored to be able to fight with you all these years.

Heero: Wu-fei No don't do it.

Wu-fei: Sally you've been avenged, it won't be long now goodbye.

Wu-fei closed his eyes and pressed the button. There was a bright white light followed by an explosion that engulfed all the mobile suits, then silence.

Duo: Wu-Fei??. NOOOOOOOO.

Quatre: this can't be happening.

Heero: Wu-fei, I'm sorry.

Ch-7

The 4 Gundam pilots grabbed their machine guns, exited their Gundams and grouped by the door. Heero looked at the other faces, there eyes were red and they all had grim looks on their faces.

Heero: Listen I know your sad, I'm hurting just as much as you, he fought till the very end just so that we would survive. Let's not let his death be in vain, we have to continue and fight. Crying is not going to help. We can mourn later but now we have to fight for him.

Trowa: Your right.

Quatre: Let's get going.

Duo: I'm gonna kill those bastards for killing my friend.

Heero: Alright move out

They ran through the door and down the hallway they turned left and ran down towards the break off point.

Trowa: You know this place has a similar interior design as Libra.

Heero: Your right it does, hey Duo, and Trowa were almost at the break off point.

Duo: Ok?hold on, SHIT guards.

They turned around to see 7 guards coming after them.

Heero: Take cover and fire.

They dove behind the corners and began to fire at the incoming guards. The first 4 fell to the ground but the other 3 started firing back and even more were showing up.

Quatre: There must be over 3 dozen of them by now.

Trowa: Were pinned down, what now.

Heero popped another magazine in his gun and continued firing.

Duo: Watch this.

Duo pulled out a grenade, pulled the pin and threw it at the enemy.

Duo: TAKE COVER.!!!

The 4 hid just as it exploded, there were screams then silence. They peeked around the corner and saw a huge mess of burnt body parts and guts. Part of the hallway was red with blood, there were pools of it and it was dripping from the ceiling.

Heero: Duo what the hell was that.

Duo: A very high explosive grenade that explodes on contact after you pull the pin.

Quatre: It sure does leave a big mess.

Trowa: How many do you have left.

Duo: Two.

Heero: That's good, anyway Duo, Trowa you'd better start your assault. We'll wait for you here.

Trowa: Ok

Quatre: Good luck you two.

Duo: Don't worry we'll be fine.

Heero: Duo take this, It's a monitor communicator, with this I can see you and we can communicate with each other if there's a problem.

Duo: Ok thanks.

Heero: Trowa take one too.

Trowa: No thanks, it'll just slow me down.

Heero: Are you sure?

Trowa: Yeah thanks anyway though.

Heero: No problem, now lets move out.

Ch-7

Duo ran down the hallway dodging bullets and firing as he ran. 3 guards ran in front of him and fired. Duo ducked down and sprayed them with bullets. Duo ran around a corner only to run into a barricade of men. They started firing at him almost instantly. Duo barley reached the corner and dove.

Duo: I don't have time to deal with them.

He pulled out another grenade, pulled the pin and threw it. There was an explosion, followed by screams. Duo ran past the bloody mess and into a huge room. There were some men in there but Duo quickly filled them with holes.

Duo: This must be the security area, well better get to work.

Duo began to place C-4 all over the area; carefully making sure not accidentally set them off.

Meanwhile nearby Rhab's Quarters

Trowa sprinted down the hallway picking off guards as he ran.

Trowa: Hmm I haven't faced that many guards so far, they must head for Duo.

Trowa started to get worried but quickly remembered his mission. Suddenly 4 guards but he quickly splattered their blood across the wall. He opened another door and came into a room with giant pillars. He took 2 steps and felt the cold barrel of a gun pressed against the back of his neck.

Man: Alright that's enough drop your gun and put your hands on your head.

Realizing he had no choice he put down his machine gun and put his hands over his head.

Man: I know you your Trowa Barton, you must be here to try and kill me.

Trowa gritted his teeth and clenched his fist.

Trowa: RHAB!!

Rhab: That's right I'm Rhab, I'm the one that gave the orders to kill your precious Cathrine. They did a good job don't you think.

Trowa: You Dirty Son of a Bitch!!

Rhab: I wonder did you wait all this time to get your revenge only to die now.

Trowa: Go to Hell!!

Rhab: Now now, there's no need to get angry, I'm doing you a favor, you'll be seeing her shortly. But first I'll take your pistol.

Rhab searched Trowa's waist and pulled out his pistol. Just then Trowa elbowed Rhab in the gut, grabbed his pistol back, and hid behind a pillar. Rhab recovered and also dove behind a pillar. The situation had now turned into a deadly game of cat and mouse.

Security Room

Duo had just finished placing all the C-4 around the area.

Duo: This should be enough to blow this whole area.

Duo grabbed the detonator and made his way to the door, just then a guard appeared and fired at Duo. He dove behind cover but took a shot in the arm, forcing him to drop his gun. He swore loudly and pulled his last grenade out. He pulled the pin and tossed it out the door. It exploded and it seemed like it was clear. Still clutching the detonator he was about to get up and run out the door when another gunshot rang out. Duo ducked back down, pulled out his pistol and fired in the direction. More shots were fired, one hitting Duo's hand knocking the pistol away. He ducked back down as shots whizzed over his head.

Guard: Gundam pilot we have you surrounded, surrendered or die.

Duo: Oh great now what am I gonna do?

He tried to think of something but couldn't. Just then he remembered the detonator.

Duo: There's only one thing I can do.

Duo pulled out his transmitter and called Heero.

Breakoff Point

Heero was waiting patiently when he heard Duo's voice.

Duo: Come in Heero.

Heero pulled out his transmitter and flicked on the switch. Duo's face appeared on the on the small monitor.

Heero: I can hear and see you, what's going on did you place the explosives.

Duo: Yes but I'm pinned down and I don't have any weapons, except this detonator.

Heero: What are you saying.

Duo: I'm also wounded, there's no way I can make it back.

Heero: What are you going to do.

Duo: I'm gonna blow up everything, including me.

Heero: No you can't.

Duo: Sorry buddy but the God of Death's time is finally up.

Heero: I don't want you to die.

Duo: I don't want to die either, but if I don't do this you can't go forward. So this is what I have to do.

Heero: But?/P>

Duo: Heero we all die eventually, and even though I'm so scared right now, I really have no other choice but to accept it.

Heero: But Duo.

Duo: Heero listen, you're like a brother to me, and I'll never forget all the good times we had together.

Heero: Duo, I wont forget either.

Duo: Goodbye bro.

Heero: Duo..

Duo turned off his monitor and looked at the red button that would soon kill him. He looked at the ground then to the ceiling.

Duo: Hilde soon we'll be together again, just wait.

Duo held the detonator up to his face.

Duo: So this will end everything will it.

He gritted his teeth and pressed the button.

Breakoff Point

There was an earth-shattering explosion then the screen blacked out. Quatre rushed over.

Quatre: What was that.

Heero dropped the transmitter and fell to his knees with a sob. Quatre ran over to him.

Quatre: Heero what's wrong.

Heero: D?D?.Duo's ?..dead.

Ch-9

Quatre was devastated, Wu-fei and Duo were dead, and only Heero, Trowa, and himself remained. Heero was sobbing pounding the ground with his fists. Quatre helped him up.

Quatre: Listen Heero we have to keep moving.

Heero: I don't know if I can.

Quatre held his face up and slapped him.

Quatre: snap out of it, you said yourself crying won't help, I'm just as sad as you are but it we just sit here and cry we'll all be dead, and his sacrifice will be for nothing. Now let's get up and get to that control room.

Heero was shocked at first but then his eyes narrowed.

Heero: your right but what about Trowa?

Quatre: He'll be fine we'll just pick him up when were finished.

Heero: All right let's move.

Rhab's Quarter's

The room was dark but Trowa knew Rhab was very close by, he could feel him. Trowa carefully behind another pillar making sure he made no noise. Every move was crucial and even one mistake would be fatal. He began to move to a different pillar when he felt like someone was behind him. Just then he heard the click of a hammer. Trowa spun around, ducked and fired three shot's into Rhab's chest. He fell on his stomach and lay there. Trowa smiled, walked over his body and aimed at his head.

Trowa: Now all of you can rest in peace.

Suddenly Rhab spun around and shot Trowa in the side. Trowa staggered back against the wall and dropped his gun.

Trowa: H? How di.. did you survive?

Rhab lifted his shirt up to show a kelevar vest.

Rhab: You didn't really think you could kill me, did you. You were a fool to come here.

Trowa: You Bastard.

He clenched his fist but then he noticed his gun by his foot.

Rhab: Now you will suffer the same fate as your Cathrine.

Rhab pointed the gun at Trowa's head and pulled back the hammer. Just then Trowa kicked his gun up to his hand. He caught it and did a spinning flip over Rhab. He landed behind him and shot him in the back six times. He yelled in pain and fell face first into the floor. Trowa slowly walked up to him and placed the gun to the back of Rhab's neck.

Trowa: THIS ONE'S FOR CATHRINE YOU SON OF A BITCH!!

Trowa pulled on the trigger ending Rhab's life for good. Trowa dropped the gun and swayed back and forth. His wound hurt and it was bleeding really badly. If he didn't get medical attention soon he was a goner.

Trowa: I can't die here, not now, Got to make it back.

Trowa slowly staggered out the door towards the Breakoff point.

Ch-10

Heero and Quatre sprinted towards their destination shooting everything that got in their way. They were now very close but low on ammo. They turned at the last corner, right into an enemy barricade, they stopped and dove for cover just as the guards fired.

Quatre: What the hell do we do now Heero.

Heero reached inside his jacket, grabbed a grenade and pulled the pin.

Heero: PRESENT FROM DUO YOU ASSHOLES.

Heero jumped out, threw the grenade, and scrambled to safety. Quatre and Heero both listened to the all too familiar sounds of the explosion, the screams, then silence.

Quatre: Good job.

Heero: Thanks now let's get that detonator.

Quatre: right I'll open the lock so we can grab the detonator and get the hell out of here, cover me while I open this.

Heero: Right.

Quatre began entering the code when they got a message from Lady Une.

Lady Une: Heero, Come in Heero

Heero: This is Heero what is it.

Lady Une: I've got some bad news the First Strike is heading on a collision course with earth. It'll reach the atmosphere in less than 20 min.

Heero: That's not much time.

Lady Une: You better hurry and get out of there before It's too late.

Heero: Thanks over and out.

Heero: Turned off the radio and looked at Quatre.

Quatre: I heard don't worry I think I got it ?there.

Quatre: Pressed the button and they ran doors opened.

Heero: Let's get that detonator.

Quatre: Right.

What happened next seemed like in slow motion, as they were going in a guard ran towards them, pointed his gun, and fired Heero pushed Quatre out of the way and took the bullet. With a yell Quatre fired his entire magazine into the guard. Heero hit the ground with a thud. And everything turned back to normal. Quatre rushed over to his fallen comrade and turned him on his back.

Quatre: Heero are you all right, can you move?

Heero: Quatre? Grab the etonator ..hurry.

Quatre rushed into the room, grabbed the detonator and ran back to his friend.

Quatre: The wounds pretty bad.

Heero: I?know did you gethe detonator.

Quatre: Yeah.

Quatre opened up his hand and showed him it. Quickly Heero grabbed it out of Quatre's hands, pushed him away and pulled his gun out.

Quatre: What are you doing?

Heero: If we had more time this wouldn't be a problem but you know damn well that with this wound I won't make it back in time.

Quatre: What are you gonna do.

Heero: Your gonna get out of here and I'm ?.gonna stay blow up this place when your?. out of range.

Quatre: But?/P>

Heero: Don't argue with me on this one?. you and I both know that this is the only thing left to do?, listen Quatre you must survive?. youe the one that can make peace a reality?There's not much time, go now.

Tears were streaming down Quatre's face as he looked at Heero for the last time.

Quatre: Ok Heero,?..I'll go.

Quatre gave him a quick hug and turned around when he felt a hand grasp his arm.

Heero: Quatre promise me you'll live your life to the best of your ability?.Do something so that an incident like this never happens again?.Don't waste your life?Don't let our sacrifices be in vain?I gave my life for yourson't disappoint meake me proud?.Promise me.

Quatre: I promise and I'll never forget what you done. Good bye my friend.

Heero: Goodbye Quatre?..now Run keep running and don't look back RUNNNNNNNN!!!!

Quatre left Heero and ran as fast as he could to the hangar.

Ch-11

Tears were running down Quatre's face as he ran towards the hangar.

Quatre: This is too much, Heero doesn't deserve to die but there's nothing I can do.

Quatre continued running till he reached the Breakoff Point.

Quatre: Trowa should be close by I should get him.

Quatre took a second too look around but he saw nothing. Suddenly out of the corner of his eye he saw a staggering Trowa

Trowa: Quatre?. is that you.

Quatre: Yes it is.

Trowa: I need ?help badly.

Quatre ran over to him to check him. At first he didn't know why he was in pain, then he saw it. A gunshot wound in his side that was bleeding heavily, leaving a trail of blood as he walked.

Quatre: Trowa you lost a lot of blood.

Trowa: No ?.. I need you to carry me.

Quatre: Ok

Trowa: I got Lady Une message,? we can't make it back to our Gundams in time?.But there is a hangar nearby?that may have?a shuttle.

Quatre: Alright but you have to hang in there, don't die on me now Trowa.

Quatre put a arm around Trowa to support him and they ran towards the hangar. Suprisingly there were no guards in sight.

Quatre: This is good the rest of the guards must have evacuated already.

Trowa: Quatre?. what happened ?.to Heero and Duo?

Quatre grimaced and shuddered.

Quatre: Duo's dead, he finished planting the explosive put he got pinned down, he blew himself and the enemies up.

Trowa: What? about Heero?

Quatre: he got wounded like you but he told me at gunpoint to leave him. He also said he would blow up the place when we were out of range.

Trowa: No Duo, Heero?.ARGH.

Quatre: Keep still, moving will only make it worse.

Trowa: Alright.. ?.please ?hurry.

Quatre and Trowa continued running until they reached the hangar.

Quatre: Trowa were here.

Trowa:? Is?. there a? shuttle? left

Quatre: He' dying and there's nothing I can do, Yes there is.

Trowa: ???Good

Quatre: Hang on Trowa.

Quatre scrambled onto the shuttle and looked around.

Quatre: Trowa there's a medical table, I'll lie you down and strap you in.

Trowa: ?..Alright

Trowa lied on the while Quatre strapped him in and quickly made a patch to stop the bleeding.

Quatre: Just hold on tight and don't die.

Trowa: just ?. get us?outta ere.

Quatre quickly went to the controls to the shuttle. He strapped himself in and pressed a button to start the engine.

Quatre: Alright let's get the hell outta here.

The shuttle jetted out of the hangar at full speed and soon they were well away from First strike.

Quatre: Heero thank you I'll always your sacrifice, Goodbye.

He closed his eyes and pressed the signal button.

Detonation room

Heero was waiting for the signal when it came.

Heero: Good job, Quatre never forget this day, good bye.

Heero held the switch in front of his face his thumb inches from the button. But waves of fear were holding him back.

Heero: I got to do this, why am I so afraid. I don't know if I can do this.

Just then he began to remember his friends; Duo, Trowa, Wu-fei, and Quatre. He remembered all the good times they had, and all they've been through. He started having memories of his wife Relena. He remembered their first date, their first kiss, the day he asked her to marry him, and the day they were married. As he was thinking of these memories his fears disappeared, A small sense of joy went through him, for he knew they would soon be together, forever.

Heero: Relena you can rest now?. it's finally over.

Heero paused for and looked at the ceiling, then back up again.

Heero: This is it?..MISSION ACCEPTED.

He smiled for the last time and pushed the button.

Ch-12

Quatre's shuttle

Even though they were out of range the explosion still shook the ship violently.

Quatre: Hang on Trowa.

Eventually the shaking stopped and there was silence. Quatre looked up and saw nothing but debris.

Quatre: Heero thank you, you saved us all.

Quatre fought the urge to cry, then he heard a groan. He turned around to see a barley conscience Trowa.

Quatre: Trowa hang in there.

Trowa: Quatre?. come here ?.undo these straps for me will you.

Quatre ran over to his friend and undid the straps, but then he felt his hand become wet. He looked at it and saw blood on it. He looked down to see a growing pool of blood from his wound.

Quatre: oh my god, Trowa.

Quatre put his hands over the wound in order to stop the bleeding, but the blood still rushed around his hands.

Trowa: Forget it Quatre?. I've lost too much blood?. anyway.

Quatre: No your gonna live.

Trowa: I wish I could.

Quatre: Please don't, your all that I have left.

Trowa: Q?.Quatre I'm sorry?. I'm?.. sorry but I'm?. finished.

Quatre: Trowa please, you must live.

Trowa: Quatre you know I'm a goner.

Quatre: But there has to be something I can do.

Trowa: Quatre don't blame? yourself, you did? all you could.

Quatre: Trowa.

Trowa: listen Quatre?.you always have ?and always will be my best friend,?. not even death will change that?. You were the first pilot that I've met ?.and we been through so much?. together. We even saved each other's lives?.Quatre I want you? to promise me that you'll make a difference?. in this world?.I want you to keep?. the peace that we fought for?.you have the? ability to do that?. with that kind heart ?and gentle spirit you have.

Trowa coughed up some blood and his breathing became heavier. Tears were flowing down Quatre's face as Trowa's life slowly was leaving him.

Trowa: I'm so ?scared Quatre.

Trowa held up his hand.

Trowa: Take?. my hand.

Quatre grasped his hands with both of his.

Quatre: Don't be scared, I'll be by your side till the end.

Trowa: Th? Th? Thank you Quatre, don't ever forget me??I love you bro?.

Quatre: Trowa.

Trowa looked at the ceiling as a tear ran down his cheek, then something caught his eye. Trowa saw a hand reaching down to him, it was Catherine's.

Trowa: Cathrine? ?. Quatre I can see Catherine's?. hand reaching towards me.

Quatre: Trowa????? Go to her, she is waiting for you.

Trowa: Quatre??. Remember?.I'll always look down on you???goodbye

Trowa closed his eyes and his body went limp. His hand slowly slipped away from Quatre's.

Quatre: Trowa TROWAAAAAAAA.

He fell, to his knees and wept aloud, he looked at his hands and saw that Trowa's blood covered them. He slumped against the wall and barried his hands in his face.

Preventors HQ

Quatre docked the ship and made his way to the airlock. When it opened Lady Une stepped in.

Lady Une: Glad to see you. Where are the others.

Quatre: Th?..They're???..gone.

Lady Une looked over Quatre's shoulder and saw Trowa.

Lady Une: Is he?

Quatre: Yes.

Lady Une: Sorry.

Quatre: Don't be.

Lady Une: Listen get some rest and we'll talk later.

Quatre walk down the hall to his room and opened the door. He walked into the bathroom and washed his hands off. He then changed out of his uniform and collapsed on his bed.

Quatre: Heero, Duo, Wu-Fei, Trowa, you all fought till the end, and died without fear. I promise you all that your deaths will not be in vain. I will do everything I can to preserve the peace, and live a good life, good bye to you all.

Quatre closed his eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep.
